Raymond A. Gobeille

Mr. Raymond A. Gobeille age 89, of Utica, was reunited with his beloved Gertrude when he passed away on Tuesday January 7, 2020 at the Masonic Care Community with the love and support of his family.

He was born in Providence Rhode Island on September 26, 1930 a son of the late Raymond and Marie Blaine Gobeille, having graduated from Rhode Island High School and Community College. He served our country in the US Army 82nd Airborne Div., as a Private First Class and Paratrooper during the Korean War. On April 24, 1954 he was married to Gertrude R. Vitullo in St. Agnes Church, Utica, she was the love of his life. They shared a loving and blessed union of 50 years.  His beloved Gertrude passed away on October 9, 2004. Raymond valued his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. He had a strong work ethic that he passed along to his children. His catholic faith was of paramount importance to him, he and his wife raised their children to cherish these values. Later in life he was a doting grandfather lovingly called, Poppy Ray. He adored all three of his grandchildren, Aaron, Francesca, and Anna. The last year of his life he was grateful to have his granddaughter Anna a nursing student who worked at the nursing home, look after him with tender love and care until his passing.Raymond began his work career with the UNIVAC Corp. and subsequently the ICL Corp. He then was employed with the County of Oneida for over 20 years, as a Community Service Specialist, a vocation he truly loved that gave him the opportunity to help others, until his retirement in 2001.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law Rose and Gene Dormio of GA. and Beth and Joe Pedulla of Schuyler; one son Lawrence Gobeille; his beloved grandchildren Aaron and Jeanette Dormio and Anna and Francesca Pedulla; beloved great grandchildren Aaron and Lilianna Dormio; one brother John Gobeille; nieces and nephews.

Relatives, friends, and colleagues are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 3:00 pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. The family will greet all visitors at the conclusion of Mass in church. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of the Masonic Care Community, Forestport Household, especially Sherisse, Jenique, Meta, Cindy, Shayla, and Rochelle for the love, care and support given to Raymond. In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s memory may be directed to Masonic Care Community.
