Mr. Shafer A. Lewis, age 73, passed away on Wednesday October 20th 2021 with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Utica, on December 10, 1947, the son of the late Louis and Grace Carbone Lewis and was a graduate of MVCC and SUNY Brockport, with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Shafer worked his entire career with the County of Oneida, retiring as an Oneida County Probation Officer. His favorite pastimes were playing the horses, golfing, travel, and a passion for eating delicious food.  He especially enjoyed telling funny stories, only the way Shafer could tell a story.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, David and Marisa Lewis of Sunnyside, NY; his daughter Julie Lewis of Baltimore, MD and his cherished grandchildren Beckett and Arlo Frey, and Lucia and Livia Lewis; his sister and brother-in-law Hazel and E. Stephen Denyes; two nephews Michael and James Denyes; his aunts Shirley Lewis, Ermalinda Lewis and Katie Lewis; his cousins Eddie Lewis, Joan Lewis and Jim Lewis; his good friend for many years Frank Grimaldi; also a large extended family and many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish 2222 Genesee St.  (Our Lady of Lourdes Campus) Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.  A celebration of Shafer’s life with family and friends will be announced at a later date.

The family requests, those in attendance to please wear masks.
