Thomas A. Mariani, Sr., age 90, of Frankfort, NY, on Wednesday July 15, 2020, unexpectedly went to be with his Lord.

He was born on December 1, 1929 in Utica, NY, a son of the late Gennaro and Margaret Spiridigliozzi Mariani. He attended Brandegee School and graduated from TR Proctor High School in 1948. Tom proudly served in the US Navy Submarine Service from 1950-1954.

Shortly after, he enrolled at Utica College of Syracuse University, where he met Marilyn Monaco, who would become his wife on June 30, 1956. Theirs was a devoted union of over 64 years.

After earning his bachelor’s degree, Tom worked many years as an Assistant Civil Engineer with the NYS Department of Transportation until his retirement. Tom was a hard working and skilled craftsman, who built a home for his family while working full time.  He had a great appreciation for Model A Fords. Tom also had a love of football, playing in high school and later with the Frankfort Falcons.

Surviving are his beloved wife Marilyn; his daughter Pamela Reece of Frankfort; two sons and daughters-in-law Tom Jr., and Tassey Mariani of Darnestown, MD and Matthew Mariani and Dr. Meredith Josephs of Washington, DC; and five cherished grandchildren, Margaret, Anna and Nicholas Mariani, Andrea and Richard Nitti, Mark Reece and fiancée Mary View and her son Luke; his sister Rosemary Assaro of Utica, sister-in-law Carol Abrams of Utica and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Andrew Mariani and two sisters Catherine Marchio and Joanne Pugliese, and a sister-in-law, Deanna Tremlin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:30 am in St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. In keeping with CDC regulations, face masks, social distancing and name registration at church are mandatory.
